** We are down to the last few pairs of this model of womens bib overalls - they have been replaced by the Ashland Bib Overalls which you can find here. **
Women's rugged overalls that are built to move.
These women's bibs have the classic look of Carhartt's duck overalls, but with a soft stretch-canvas construction that gives you full freedom to move. The zip pocket on the chest is large enough to fit a phone, and the several slip-in pockets have various sizes to accommodate your different tools. A double layer at the knees increases the durability factor plus gives you a place to stick your knee pads.
Right - so sizing caused a heated conversation in the Tinker and Fix office. American sizing usually comes up on the large side. When deciding to stock the women's bib overalls we wanted to make sure we could give customers the best sizing information possible. Below you'll see Carhartt's official sizing guide. Below that you'll see our interpretation of it based on experience.

Here's what we found;
Louise is usually a UK size 10 (sometimes 12, never an 8.) Her size choice is Medium becuase she likes to wear them loose in the summer and with thermals in the colder months. She can fit into Small but this wouldn't work as well (comfort wise) to putting layers underneath. So if your preference is to layer up or to wear them loose then we'd say the Small was a UK 8/10, Medium a UK 10/12, Large a UK 12/14 and XL a 14/16
This further fuelled the conversation around the naming of sizes ..... and the conclusion was you should ignore what Carhartt stick in the label and go with what fits.
The Carhartt Brown and Dark Brown overalls that we currently have in stock are a model that has now been discontinued and replaced with a new version. They used to be called the Crawford and going forward will be called the Ashland. The Black overalls curently in stock are the new Ashland version, but we won't have stock of these in Carhartt Brown until the end of the year.
The new Ashlands have a slightly different front pocket layout and appear to be using the same pattern for sizing. They can be found here.
Here's some comments from customers who have tried on different sizes;
"I am 5ft 8inches tall, slim and take a size 12 (my jeans size is 29).
The reason I want the dungarees is for gardening so therefore I didn’t want anything too tight.
The medium size was a perfect fit for my size, if I had wanted them for normal/fashion wear I would have gone with this size.
The large are more roomy and will allow me to wear a pair of leggings under them in the winter. For the gardening work I do the large will give me unrestricted movement."
