Of course old wooden game boards with gorgeous colorful paint are wonderful, but I love the primitiveness and immediacy of this one, with the nothing-more-than-necessary parcheesi board cross scratched into its surface with a sense of urgency, as if its maker was needing to play at that very moment and so carved out the board as expeditiously as possible. The effect really feels rather holy to me. Stains and light scratches all over the surface suggest it served as as a cutting board prior to its carving and perhaps  And indeed, if not to hang on the wall, It would make an excellent tabletop or serving board. Four panels, with rails on the back. My photos really do the viscerality of this no justice.
