A  lovely French sewing samples notebook, which I'm more inclined to call a folio for this beautiful green waxed paper wrap, with neat stitching in white thread along all edges, and flap closure on the front, reading 1939-40 along the strip the tongue of the flap threads through. It's that waxy green wrap that especially does it for me--the color softly faded on the exterior while almost emerald inside--elevating the whole thing into feeling like a exquisite object. (And it has helped to keep the contents very crisp and bright, too!) Photos show all interior pages, including examples of seams, embroidery, fastenings (buttons and button holes,  tc), crochet/knitting, patching, darning, gathering/pleating, etc and then unmounted examples of a sleeve, a shirt, and collar. Really a nice, perfectly preserved example, purchased I know years ago by a wonderful dealer in the Hudson River Vallery straight from a Parisian flea market.

8 3/8" x 7 1/4". Excellent condition throughout, no losses, general toning/ color fading/ light general wear to the exterior cover, as there should be.
