Antique Sidesaddle Whip with Gilt Dragon Handle - w1127The handle of this elegant whip is shaped as a dragon or serpent's head. The creature holds a ring for a wrist strap in its mouth. There is a gilded collar with a blank shield or cartouche and foliate decoration. The gilding is worn on one side of the collar. The whole whalebone shaft is covered in very fine braided balleen or whalebone , there is a bound repair towards its end. The whip still has its origninal vellum & silk lash. Dimensions : Length
