Billy Eilish's sophomore album Happier Than Ever

The follow-up to her Grammys-sweeping debut, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Billy Eilish's highly-anticipated sophomore album is titled Happier Than Ever. The 16-track studio album is set to be released via Darkroom/Interscope Records on July 30, 2021. Continuing the tradition on from her multi-Grammy Award, record-breaking debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Happier Than Ever features no outside songwriters or producers, and was written by 19-year-old Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, who produced the album in Los Angeles. The album includes Top 40 No. 1 single "Therefore I Am" and "my future."

Everybody has something to say about teen sensation Billie Eilish. While The New Yorker declared her the "changing face of pop" and praised her edgy style and lyricism, The Telegraph felt she encouraged the rise of so-called "misery pop." So, who is Eilish, and why has she become the poster child for Gen Z angst? Bursting onto the music scene in 2016, the then-13-year-old posted the song "Ocean Eyes" to her Soundcloud for her dance teacher. According to Vogue, her co-producer brother, Finneas O'Connell, called her one day to say, "Dude! Our song got 1,000 plays." From there, Eilish's rise to fame simply seemed to snowball.

Eilish revealed the title of her second studio album on Instagram. Her post featured a photo of the album cover with the "Bad Guy" singer's newly debuted blond hair.

"This is my favorite thing i've ever created and i am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it," Eilish wrote.

That's a big statement considering her debut album, 2019's When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? swept the top four awards at the 62nd Grammy Awards. Her winnings made her the first woman (and the youngest ever) to sweep. This year, she collected even more trophies during the 63rd Grammy Awards, winning record of the year again with "Everything I Wanted."
