Amazon Leaf Fish
The South American leaf fish, or "true" leaf fish, or Amazon Leaf Fish, is an effective camouflage predator in the slow moving streams of the Brazil Amazon basin. The leaf fish looks JUST like a leaf and will eat fish up to one half inch in size, along with live black worms and brine shrimp. The leaf fish may be transitioned these fish to all frozen food but please don't count on it. These fish are egg layers though it is rare to get these guys (and girls of course) to breed in the aquarium.
In the aquarium Amazon leaf fish tend to hover near to upper zone. The leaf fish can change colors in the wild and in the aquarium to hide in the surroundings. These fish will also mimic the movement of water logged leaved and let the current drift them towards their innocent prey.
Leaf fish to well in an aquarium provided the tank is low PH, anything higher than 7.4 and they will slowly fade. These fish are amazing in planted tanks!
