Evie Cahir is a contemporary Melbourne-based artist who is best known for her vibrant and atmospheric works on paper. Drawing inspiration from Fauvism, Cahir’s bold and emotive colour palette has become a central expressive force. Her enigmatic practice often explores how we experience space, both visually and physically.

In her 2024 work 'Mimi', Cahir creates an vibrant composition of an onion on a chopping board, ready to be cut. Through gestural mark-making and bold colour, she infuses the scene with energy and atmosphere, while the central onion remains unexpectedly still amid the surrounding chaos. Drawn from everyday life, the painting feels immediate and closely observed.

Cahir’s work has been exhibited at Ballarat Art Gallery, Castlemaine Art Museum, and Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf. She has been a finalist in several art prizes, including the Hazelhurst Works on Paper Art Prize in 2025.
