The Yellow Eye (YE) Goldenback Neocaridina Shrimp is a brilliant, selectively bred variant developed in-house at Aquatic Arts. This exceptional shrimp features a radiant golden-yellow body with a metallic dorsal stripe and the signature colored eye trait — vivid yellow eyes that embody the next evolution of Neocaridina refinement.
Every generation of our Bred By Aquatic Arts Yellow Eye line is carefully selected for clarity, coloration, and consistency, making this shrimp a living expression of precision and progress. These shrimp aren’t just beautiful — they represent Evolution You Can See.
Please note that individual coloration may vary depending on age, gender, and tank conditions. Some shrimp may display lighter or deeper golden hues, while all maintain the distinct Yellow Eye trait that sets this line apart.
The Colored Eye (YE) trait represents a landmark in modern shrimp breeding. Traditionally, all Neocaridina displayed dark, black eyes — but through patient, selective refinement, breeders transformed this feature into luminous shades of yellow and gold.
At Aquatic Arts, we’ve continued to stabilize and perfect this trait, producing shrimp that shine with a brilliance unmatched in the hobby. The YE Goldenback stands as proof that evolution in the aquarium isn’t random — it’s guided by vision, patience, and purpose.
Evolution You Can See.
• Golden Luminescence: A vibrant yellow body with a reflective dorsal stripe that glows under aquarium lighting.
• Colored Eyes (YE): The signature feature — radiant yellow eyes that redefine Neocaridina beauty.
• Tank-Bred by Aquatic Arts: Responsibly bred in-house to ensure superior quality, health, and consistency.
• Peaceful and Hardy: Excellent for planted community tanks and shrimp colonies.
• Natural Cleaners: Constant grazers that help reduce algae and maintain tank balance.
The Yellow Eye (YE) Goldenback Neocaridina thrives in a lush, planted environment that emphasizes its vivid coloration and glowing eyes. Dark substrates and vibrant greenery help this shrimp stand out as the focal point of any freshwater aquarium.
• Plants: Perfect among Java Moss, Anubias, and Subwassertang, which provide shelter and grazing surfaces. Floating plants such as Salvinia and Frogbit help diffuse lighting naturally.
• Hardscape: Incorporate smooth river stones, lava rock, or Malaysian driftwood for structure and shaded areas.
• Botanicals: Add the Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack or Aquatic Arts Breeder Botanical Pack to create biofilm-rich microhabitats. For additional texture and natural hiding spots, include Aquatic Arts Buddha Pods or Beal Pods.
A thoughtfully designed aquascape not only showcases the shrimp’s vivid appearance but promotes natural grazing, molting, and breeding behavior.
The Bred By Aquatic Arts YE Goldenback is an active grazer and benefits from a diverse diet that supports coloration, molting, and vitality. Feed a rotation of Aquatic Arts Shrimp Food Sample Pack staples — Sinking Pellets, Bee Pollen, and Snowflake (soybean hulls) — for balanced nutrition and energy.
Supplement with blanched vegetables or botanicals from the Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack or Breeder Botanical Pack to encourage natural feeding and biofilm development. Feed once daily or every other day, removing uneaten food after a few hours to maintain water clarity.
This shrimp is peaceful and best kept in colonies of its own kind. It coexists well with other Neocaridina varieties, small snails, and non-aggressive nano fish. Avoid large or predatory fish that may disturb or consume shrimp.
