Bone broth is made by slow-simmering animal bones and connective tissue in water with vegetables and aromatics for an extended period — typically 12–24 hours. This long cook extracts collagen, gelatine, minerals and amino acids from the bones, producing a deeply flavoursome, nutrient-rich liquid. Unlike regular stock, bone broth gels when chilled due to the high collagen content.
Drink it warm as a nourishing hot drink — season with a pinch of Himalayan salt and fresh pepper. Use it as a base for soups, stews, risottos and gravies in place of stock. Use it to deglaze pans after roasting chicken or vegetables. Add to mashed potato instead of water. Freeze in ice cube trays for easy portioning.
250ml is a single serving for drinking straight or a base for one portion of soup. 500ml covers 2 servings or a small batch of soup or sauce. 1 litre is ideal for cooking — making a risotto, braising liquid or a large pot of soup.
